Contemporary Classes
Think of Rambert, Martha Graham and Richard Alston, these are Contemporary companies and dancers. Contemporary dance is taught in most vocational dance schools now, whether it is a ballet school, musical theatre or sometimes even drama. It has a sense of freedom whilst dancing and embraces innovation, with lots of floor work, lifts, and some more acro moves blending techniques. There are many different styles of Contemporary Dance and not such set positions as ballet. We try to encourage children to take part in local performances such as the One Step Dance Platform, or the UDance Festival or even at the local school as part of their showcase. We really want to encourage a sense of performance with our Contemporary classes.
